Recently I had the opportunity to check out a truly unique wedding venue right in Denver. The Eisenhower Chapel is one of Denver's cherished treasures, located in the Lowry neighborhood. I didn't know that for nearly 60 years there was an Air Force Base right in Denver. In the 1950's Lowry became the summer White House for President Dwight Eisenhower and his wife. Apparently her family lived in Denver and they just loved it here. I like Ike. It was built in 1941 (and 40's wedding vibes are so in right now!) Before the Air Force operations were permanently moved to Colorado Springs in the late 1950's Dwight and Maime would attend Sunday services at Chapel No. 1 whenever they were in town. There is even a marker on their regular pew. Also, I personally found it super interesting that Lowry was named for Lt. Francis B. Lowry, who was killed during aerial combat while serving as an aerial photographer in France in 1918. Anybody else a history nerd? I knew it.

The Chapel was designated on the National Register of Historic Places and so it has survived through the many changes in the neighborhood.

Inside, the Chapel is a wide open space. Warm light beams in from the tall windows running the length of the building. Rich wood tones in the pews and rafters make the space feel warm and the soaring vaulted ceiling lends an air of grandeur to this historic space. The Chapel is a non-denominational (and indeed non-religious) blank canvas that is completely open to possibilities. I can picture the aisle lined with flowers, the alter draped in silks, and not a dry eye in the house as you and your beloved exchange your forevers. I'm a bit of a romantic. The Chapel provides all of the fancy tech touches you might be looking for, with a sound system, projector and even microphone options. It can accommodate up to 200 people and has space for the bride and groom to get ready. The space rents for $300 per hour with a two hour minimum, and they offer a service member discount, so I really recommend checking this out if you are looking for an intimate wedding on a budget. Seriously, this place just has such a grand feel to it, it needs to be seen! Another big bonus is it's proximity to, well, everything. Nearby you will find plenty of hotels, restaurants and PARKING. Which is huge, trust me, especially for out of town guests who might not want to travel too far.

The view from loft. I'm obsessed with those light fixtures!

Can't you just picture how amazing your dress will look walking down this aisle? And the décor possibilities are endless!

The front of the Chapel is so pretty! And I love doing portraits on stairs like this!

There is some amazing landscaping in those garden beds and it really shines in the spring.

There is a nice open space in front of the Chapel, as well as a grassy area that would be great for a receiving line. And how amazing would portraits at sunset be here?
