This was a session full of firsts for me. It was my first candlelight skyline session, and my first session to ever be interrupted by the cops, but more on that later.

Allison reached out to me wanting to create a unique engagement announcement, and was looking for something special for just her and David, but also wanted to included their daughter in a few of the photos. I found out that they really love the city, so I set off to find a perfect rooftop area that would give us a great view of the city at dusk. I spent enough time on google maps looking at roofs in the city that I am sure I am on a watch list somewhere (but that's not why the cops showed up). I figured a parking garage would be our best bet, so once I had a list together I did some in-person scouting. Because I hate the idea of paying for parking ever, let alone just to drive to the top and look around, I opted to park on the street and walk up the stairs. By my 5th garage and 25th flight of stairs I was beginning to regret that decision. But then I hit the jackpot and found the absolutely prefect place. Bonus, parking is free. And no, I'm not giving away this secret. If you want some photos with this view, I guess you will just have to book me!

Once the amazing location was locked in, it was time to have some fun with this family. Evelynn was such a little ham for the family photos. You can tell she is the star of the show pretty much anywhere she goes. We shared so many giggles and I was even able to enlist her to help me keep my flash batteries warm. Thank you so much for the help and the smiles!

After we got the family shots and as the sun was setting, we headed over to the top secret location, where I set up a candle lit champagne picnic for them. Not to brag too much, but Allison said it was one of the best dates they had ever been on.

You can really tell how much these two love eachother, especially in the photos when I put on their song and let them dance. This isn't that new, fragile, growing love. You can tell that they have faced hard times and good times and scary times, but that they faced them together and have grown closer because of it. When I see that kind of love I just can't look away. Can you?

OK, but what about the cops? Well, I'm not sure if they saw us son the cameras or received a tip, but the security force rolled up on us, mid-dance, to check it out. They doe in, lights on, hands on their tazers, and even brought backup. Overkill for a few candles and a bottle of Asti. We explained what was going on and they eventually left. It really killed the mood, but I don't think any of us will forget it. Well, except for Evelynn, who was in the car on her iPad and didn't even notice the cops were there. Ha!

This family is just so great!

Pop that bubbly!

That view is pretty great, but I can't stop looking at their love!
